Following a number of Emmy wins for “The Pitt,” “Hacks,” “DTF St. Louis” and “Task” on Sunday night, Chairman and CEO of HBO and Max Content Casey Bloys sat down with Deadline to offer updates on how the network’s 2027 slate is shaping up.
Speaking about the Emmy eligibility window for next year, which ends May 31st 2027, he confirms the following titles will premiere before that date:
– “The Pitt” Season 3
– “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms” Season 2
– “The White Lotus” Season 4
– “The Gilded Age” Season 4
– “Rooster” Season 2
– “I Love L.A.” Season 2
– “The Trial of Louise Woodward” (limited series)
One of the obvious absentees from this year’s Emmy nominees was “Heated Rivalry,” the much-talked-about gay hockey drama wasn’t allowed to be nominated under the rules due to it being a fully Canadian production for Crave.
Bloys confirms the show’s second season is in production with a major premiere set for New York in the spring. Asked if he liked the scripts he’s seen, Bloys says: “Oh, I’m thrilled. It’s the greatest acquisition in the history of television”.
He confirms “The Last of Us” Season 3 will be airing in 2027 but he doesn’t have a date as yet, and he thinks that showrunner Craig Mazin has “planned it as the final season”. It has been in production for much of the year.
A second season of “Task” is currently halfway through filming and is expected next year but is not expected to release until the back half of the year at the earliest.
Nathan Fielder has an “idea that he’s working on” for more “The Rehearsal” but no further details than that. There’s no updates on “True Detective” Season 5 or “Big Little Lies” Season 3, and nothing in the works for “Game of Thrones” beyond the second season of “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms” and the fourth and final season of “House of the Dragon”.
