In a welcome bit of news to ring in the new year, a ‘what’s coming this year’ promo has been released by the Disney+ streaming service and has released a bit of good news – Marvel’s “WandaVision” series has been moved up.
Originally slated to premiere Spring 2021, the clip now says the Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany-led series will be coming 2020. The series is potentially ahead of schedule, allowing for such a move whilst also giving more time for people to check it out ahead of “Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness” film in May 2021 which “WandaVision” will directly tie into.
Disney+ has been criticised for not having another major series ready to go once “The Mandalorian” wrapped last week. This move ensures the service now has three major tentpoles – “WandaVision,” “Falcon and The Winter Soldier” and “The Mandalorian: Season 2” ready for the back half of next year with a total of around twenty episodes between them.
“WandaVision” is rumored to have the tone of a 1950s sitcom and also be a loose adaptation of the “House of M” storyline from the comics. Kat Dennings, Randall Park, Kathryn Hahn and Teyonah Parris co-star.
