First Fox Marvel Films Hit Disney Streaming

2007’s critically maligned “Fantastic 4: Rise of the Silver Surfer” is now officially streaming on Disney+ in the United States, marking the first of Fox’s Marvel films to arrive on the service in that country.

Before he was Captain America, Chris Evans starred alongside Ioan Gruffudd, Jessica Alba, and Michael Chiklis as the quartet of heroes in the film which grossed just $289 million worldwide against a $130 million production budget and scuttled the series after just two installments.

The “Fantastic Four” property now belongs back home at Marvel Studios and the characters are expected to be integrated into the Marvel Cinematic Universe at some point.

No word at present if any of the other Fox Marvel films make their way to Disney+ in the United States, however a scan of the Disney+ here in Australia confirms that Fox’s “X-Men” original trilogy, the pre-“Dark Phoenix” prequel trilogy, the first two Wolverine films, and all three “Fantastic 4” films are up on the service.
