The Apple TV+ original sci-fi drama series “Foundation,” based on Isaac Asimov’s novel trilogy, is set to become the largest-scale single production ever to film in Ireland.
The ten-episode first season of the series chronicles the epic saga of The Foundation, a band of exiles who discover that the only way to save the Galactic Empire from destruction is to defy it. Jared Harris and Lee Pace star.
At a press briefing in Dublin today, national funding body Screen Ireland said the series will create more than 500 production jobs when it shoots at Troy Studios in Limerick. David S. Goyer, Josh Friedman and Skydance Television are all producing the project.
The series was one of forty titles across film, TV and animation touted by Screen Ireland this week. The other most high profile one was Netflix’s “Vikings” spin-off “Vikings: Valhalla” which will shoot its 24 episode run at Ashford Studios in Wicklow. Events in that will take place a century after the original series ended.
