Bryan Cranston will join Angelina Jolie and Sam Rockwell in the cast of “The One and Only Ivan” for Disney Pictures.
Based on the 2011 Newbery Medal-winning book written by Katherine Applegate, the story follows a silverback gorilla named Ivan (Rockwell) who lives in a cage in a shopping mall along with an elephant named Stella (Jolie) and a stray dog called Bob.
When a baby elephant named Ruby enters and Ivan finds himself taking care of her, he begins to rediscover his previous life and concocts a plan to take the baby elephant away from their abusive owner.
Cranston will play a human role, as the desperate owner of a failing circus. Brooklynn Prince and Ariana Greenblatt co-star in the film and Thea Sharrock directs the project which blends live-action and CG. Mike White wrote the script while Jolie, Brigham Taylor and Allison Shearmur are producing.
