Emmy winner Kate McKinnon (“Ghostbusters,” “Saturday Night Live”) is set to topline Amblin Entertainment’s “The Lunch Witch” based on the 2015 young adult novel by Deb Lucke.
McKinnon will play a witch named Grunhilda, a bitter woman who inherited recipes and a cauldron from her ancestors. She takes a job as a lunch lady and frightens the children. That is until she meets and befriends a timid, bespectacled girl named Madison – even though lending a helping hand goes against her witch values.
Clay Kaytis (“Angry Birds”) directs the live-action movie which Michael De Luca and Johnny Pariseau are producing.
