New Line has tapped Bruce Joel Rubin (“Ghost”, “Deep Impact”) to rewrite sci-fi romance “The Time Traveler’s Wife,” to be directed by Robert Schwentke reports Variety.
The novel centers on a Chicago librarian with a gene that causes him to involuntarily time travel, brought on by stress and bad memories.
He meets and falls in love with a teenage heiress, but the couple’s often out of sync because of his time traveling.
“Wife,” produced by Brad Pitt via his Plan B shingle and Nick Wechsler, has been in development at New Line since 2003 when the studio acquired feature rights to the acclaimed Audrey Niffenegger novel.
