Malcolm Spellman (“Dead Presidents”) is set to pen a feature based on the classic TV show “Soul Train” for Warner Bros. Pictures says Variety.
Set in 1980’s Los Angeles, the film centers on a young guy naturally gifted at the street dancing style of ‘popping’ which was popular in the period.
A tour with bands and dancers will become the centerpiece of the film. ‘Train’ itself ran from 1971-2006.
Don Cornelius, Darryl Porter and Aaron Geller will produce.
