Jeffrey Wright has joined Allen Hughes’ $50 million drama “Broken City” at Emmett/Furla Films, New Regency and Fox reports Variety.
The story follows a Brooklyn detective (Mark Wahlberg) who is hired by a powerful politician (Russell Crowe) to identify his wife’s lover. When the lover turns up dead, the detective takes it personally and uncovers a wider conspiracy involving his employer.
Wright will play the police commissioner who has a complicated history with Crowe’s character. Catherine Zeta-Jones, Barry Pepper and Alona Tal also star.
Brian Tucker wrote the script while Randall Emmett, Stephen Levinson, Wahlberg and George Furla will produce. Shooting is underway in New York.
