During a Walt Disney quarterly earning stockholders call yesterday, CEO Bob Iger reportedly revealed that the studio has three “Star Wars” spin-off movies in the works – not two as previously indicated.
The plan is to have each of these films come out in the years when we don’t see a new episode of the main saga – namely 2016, 2018 and 2020. It’s still unclear which characters these spin-offs will focus on.
The reveal of a third one also raises the question of who is writing it. Lawrence Kasdan is penning one of the spin-offs, Simon Kinberg is handling another, so who is tackling number three?
Production on “Star Wars: Episode VII” officially begins next week at Pinewood Studios in England.
