Brett Ratner’s RatPac Entertainment has acquired the film rights to Jesse Katz’ Los Angeles magazine article “Escape From Cuba”. Ratner and Beau Flynn will produce, and a search for writers is underway.
The story chronicles Dodgers superstar Yasiel Puig’s repeated attempts to escape his home country of Cuba – attempts which saw him held captive by drug smugglers for almost three weeks.
In news of a different kind, Tri-Star Pictures has pre-emptively acquired the comedy pitch “The Yank” which Steve Pink and Jeff Morris will write and which has Will Ferrell attached to star.
Ferrell would play a timid insurance courier who gets caught up in a plot to steal the Crown Jewels in London. No director is attached at this time.
