Irish-born actress Eve Hewson (“Bridge of Spies,” “The Knick”) has scored the lead role of Maid Marian in Otto Bathurst’s “Robin Hood: Origins” film for Lionsgate.
Joby Harold penned the origin-style tale in which Robin returns from fighting in The Crusades and finds that Sherwood Forest is rife with corruption and evil. He forms a band of outlaws and they take matters into their own hands.
Reportedly over one-hundred young actresses were considered for the highly coveted gig, with Hewson beating out the likes of Gaite Jansen, Lucy Fry and Gugu Mbatha-Raw for the part.
Shooting is slated to begin next Summer once leading man Taron Egerton wraps up his commitments to the “Kingsman: The Secret Service” sequel.
