Earlier this month came the news that filmmaker Steven Soderbergh was stepping in to help Matt Reeves finish production on “The Batman: Part II” after the latter had to step away due to family reasons.
Soderbergh is handling the last third of the filming on set, communicating with Reeves as he does, and then Reeves will handle the post-production phase.
Now, still out there speaking about “Primetime” ahead of its international rollout in some key markets this coming weekend, actor Robert Pattinson spoke with GamesRadar+ about the behind-the-scenes switch:
“I am so happy he’s come on to help Matt. It’s incredibly generous of him – and he’s doing it in the loveliest way. It’s completely selfless…I think Matt had put so much work into the script, and we’re almost done. So for someone to come in and say, ‘I just want to help Matt do it; I want to do it in conjunction with him and just get it to the edit.’ And to have someone who’s as talented as Steven doing it is great.”
The production hit pause before the news broke about Soderbergh’s involvement. Asked when filming would begin again, Pattinson said: “I think they’re in production already. And I’m starting in a couple of days.”
Sebastian Stan, Scarlett Johansson, Brian Tyree Henry, and Charles Dance are among those joining the cast of the new film alongside returnees Pattinson, Andy Serkis, Colin Farrell and Jeffrey Wright.
“The Batman Part II” is slated for a February 18th 2028 release.
