Following on from that weirdly uncomfortable teaser two weeks ago, A24 has premiered the full trailer for the Telluride-premiering documentary feature “You Can See Everything”.
Nathan Fielder (“The Rehearsal”) and Lance Oppenheim (“Primetime”) co-directed the doco about Elizabeth Holmes, the founder of the defunct and infamous health technology company Theranos.
Holmes was a biotech entrepreneur who founded the startup that claimed to have devised comprehensive blood tests requiring only a few drops (essentially a finger prick) that could be performed rapidly using small automated devices – revolutionising clinical pathology and diagnostic medicine.
Overnight, she became a self-made multi-billionaire and then lost it when it was learned the proprietary technology did not work and produced flawed results. She was convicted of wire fraud and conspiracy and sentenced to 11 years in a United States federal prison.
The film crew was allowed to document her for nearly five weeks before she began serving her sentence. The filmmakers continue following Holmes over the course of the next three years, with the synopsis saying: “What begins as an intimate portrait of an enigmatic felon becomes a mind-bending three-year journey into the abyss”.
A24 will release the film theatrically on October 16th.
