Filming wrapped on James Gunn’s “Man of Tomorrow” the other week, and rumoured new production and plot details have emerged online about what to expect from the “Superman” follow-up.
According to scooper Mundos da DC (via Max Blizz, they claim Gunn took note of complaints about his 2025 take on “Superman” and plans to address them head-on in the follow-up.
They claim that this partly led to the film getting a different director of photography and the title being positioned as the “first true DCU event movie”.
It’s said the tone is “considerably more mature, dense, and epic” than the former film and more akin to Gunn’s work on the third “Guardians of the Galaxy”.
There are also big scenes for Nicholas Hoult’s Lex Luthor, including a shirtless prison brawl, while the design of Brainiac is intended to deliberately unsettle moviegoers and offer a frightening presence.
It’s also claimed that Aaron Pierre’s John Stewart is said to have a substantial role, Adria Arjona is playing Wonder Woman, and one scene will see Captain Atom set to appear and receive some sort of medal. One moment sees Clark helping his father, Jonathan Kent, who is now wheelchair-bound.
The report is pure rumour for now, and so far Gunn hasn’t reacted to it. “Man of Tomorrow” arrives in cinemas on July 9th 2027.
