Stan: “Batman Part II” Is Like “Godfather: Part II”

Sebastian Stan, currently running around Toronto doing interviews to promote “Fjord” at the film festival currently underway, has made a big promise about the quality of the upcoming “The Batman Part II”.

Filming on the Matt Reeves-directed project has been underway at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden, along with location shooting in Glasgow and Liverpool, under a veil of secrecy.

Indeed, even with a ton of set videos and photos showing off some of the action taking place, no one is quite sure what characters the actors are playing. Stan in particular was originally rumoured to be Harvey Dent/Two-Face, then Mr. Zsasz and now is seemingly back to Dent again.

Speaking with Variety at the fest, Stan says his favourite superhero movie is “Batman Returns” and he “shamefully” really likes “Batman Forever” mostly for Jim Carrey’s The Riddler. It’s then he drops the key quote about the new Batman film’s quality:

“Look, there’s no way to keep any secret anymore. What I’ll say is this: there’s no way people will fully grasp how this movie is until they see it. I go to set sometimes and I look around and I’m like, I think we’re making f–king “The Godfather Part Two.” I feel that highly about it.

Matt has spent three years working on it. There’s a lot of speculation about these roles, about what this movie is, but I think it’s going to be a good payoff – it’s really grounded and real, and that’s what I loved about it. You want to tease it a little, but we still have a long time.”

Robert Pattinson, Jeffrey Wright, Andy Serkis, Sebastian Koch, Jayme Lawson, and Gil Perez-Abraham co-star in “The Batman: Part II” opening February 18th 2028.
