The teaser trailer has been released for “Air Bud Returns,” the upcoming new entry in the family film franchise which is heading for a January 22nd 2027 theatrical release.
After the passing of his father, 14-year-old Jacob (Aydin Artis) and his mom (Tracy Ifeachor) move into his dad’s childhood home in Fernfield, where anything is possible.
Jacob dreams of becoming a basketball star, which seems further away than ever, until he discovers a VHS marked ‘Air Bud’.
Jacob has a miraculous chance meeting with a basketball-playing golden retriever, Buddy. The duo embarks on a journey of healing.
Along the way they unite a basketball team of misfits, and chase a championship as the new Timberwolves. Edwin Lee Gibson, Tyler Labine, Erik Gow, and Maxim Swinton co-star.
The project hails from writer/director Robert Vince and was shot in Vancouver. Charlie and Summer have been named as the pooches that will be used in the film, the dogs selected from over 5,000 candidates.
