“Predator” Director Sets “Freddy the 13th” Film

“Prey” and “Predator: Badlands” filmmaker Dan Trachtenberg is turning his attention to something a bit less gruesome.

Trachtenberg will reportedly co-direct and produce a currently untitled animated feature based on the graphic novel “Freddy the 13th” by Yehudi Mercado.

Not to be confused with some sort of “Freddy vs. Jason” style affair, this Paramount Animation effort is said to bring “wholesome PG-rated scares and laughs to the whole family.”

The story follows a family vacation gone awry, when fun Uncle Freddy accidentally kills the Boogeyman and takes on his powers. The family must go on a quest to break the curse.

Mercado will co-direct, with Trachtenberg and Ben Rosenblatt set to produce. The project was announced today at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival.

Paramount Animation will next release “PAW Patrol: The Dino Movie” on August 14th.
