“One Piece” Season 2 Sails To Cinemas

Netflix has announced that the first two episodes of the upcoming second season of its very well-received live-action adaptation of the anime “One Piece” will sail into cinemas.

The theatrical screenings will take place in the U.S., Canada and Japan, with the North American showings starting at 6pm local time on March 10th – the same day all eight episodes hit the streamer.

Tickets will go on sale Thursday, February 26th at 8am PT/ 11am ET with AMC, Regal, Cinemark, Alamo and Cineplex all participating.

This marks the second streaming series Netflix has screened in movie theaters following the company packing them out with the series finale of “Stranger Things” which made more than $25 million from more than 1.1 million ticket vouchers sold.

While certainly not as big a cultural event, the first season of “One Piece” proved a big hit for the streamer – becoming the most-watched season of a series during the second half of 2023 with 541.9 million hours watched in four months. It also more than doubled viewership for the anime,

The success led to a quick renewal for not just a second but also a third season, the latter is currently in production in South Africa.

Returning Straw Hat crew includes Iñaki Godoy as Monkey D. Luffy, Mackenyu as Zoro, Emily Rudd as Nami, Jacob Romero as Usopp, and Taz Skylar as Sanji. Also back from the first season, albeit in reduced capacities, are Jeff Ward as Buggy, Vincent Regan as Admiral Garp, Morgan Davies as Koby, and Aidan Scott as Helmeppo.

New in the second season are Joe Manganiello as Mr. 0/Crocodile, Lera Abova as Miss All Sunday/Nico Robin, Charithra Chandran as Miss Wednesday/Princess Vivi, Sendhil Ramamurthy as Nefartari Cobra, David Dastmalchian as Mr. 3, Camrus Johnson as Mr. 5, Jazzara Jaslyn as Miss Valentine, Callum Kerr as Smoker, Rico Sanchez as Dragon, and Mikaela Hoover as the voice of Tony Tony Chopper.

“One Piece” Season 2 hits cinemas and Netflix on March 10th.
