It’s no secret that Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige was stretched too thin over the fourth and fifth phases of the MCU.
Between all the Disney+ series and the multiple movies, Feige’s attention was being pulled between a lot of different places, meaning he couldn’t fulfil his reputation for strong creative control over the Marvel universe.
With Disney having pulled back on its Marvel streaming output, and lessened the number of films, it seems Feige is getting back to what he does best.
Speaking on a recent episode of My Mom’s Basement with Robbie Fox, reporter Justin Kroll gave an update on Feige’s involvement with future MCU projects:
“He has been solely focused on [Doomsday] and Secret Wars for, like, a year straight. Like, this has been it…He puts Jake Schreier on, last year, as the director of X-Men…He’s kind of let Amy Pascal handle a lot of the Spider-Man stuff.
There wasn’t much, really – like, Sadie Sink is there, but other than that, he is focused on this return. So, just know that, people. He’s in London all the time.
If that dude has his mind set on just the one thing, like he used to do back in the day with Iron Man or Thor, they turn out good. It’s when he has like eight other things that it gets a little tougher.”
Marvel Studios has only two films dated over the next two years – “Avengers: Doomsday” in December 2026 and “Avengers: Secret Wars” in December 2027. They’re also jointly producing “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” with Sony in July 2026.
On the TV front this year there’s “Wonder Man” launching this month, “Daredevil: Born Again” Season 2, “Vision Quest,” “X-Men ’97” Season 2, an untitled “The Punisher” special, and the animated “Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man” Season 2.
