“Charlie’s Angels” and “Terminator Salvation” director McG has signed on to both direct and executive produce the first episode of the reboot of iconic lifeguard drama “Baywatch” at FOX.
The hiring comes as McG’s Wonderland Sound and Vision company recently signed off on a development deal with Fox Entertainment.
Shooting on the new series will begin in March on Venice Beach in Los Angeles, with additional filming at the Fox studio lot in Century City. An open casting call is taking place February 18th in Marina Del Rey.
A wide range of roles from series regulars and recurring characters to walk-ons will be filled that day. The show aims to premiere during the 2026-27 season on FOX.
Matt Nix (“Burn Notice,” “The Gifted”) serves as showrunner and executive producer alongside executive producers McG, Michael Berk, Greg Bonann, Doug Schwartz, Dante Di Loreto and Mike Horowitz.
McG has produced several series for FOX in the past including “The O.C.,” “Human Target,” “Fastlane” and “Lethal Weapon”. His most recent films include “The Family Switch” and the upcoming Chris Pratt-led “The Way of the Warrior Kid”.
At its peak, “Baywatch” became the most-watched show in the world, airing in over 200 countries and reaching more than a billion viewers every week.
