A new report at The InSneider claims to have discovered what Scarlett Johansson’s role in Matt Reeves’ upcoming “The Batman: Part II” is – Gilda Gold.
In the comics, Gilda has had various incarnations but is known primarily as the fiancée and later wife of Gotham City D.A. Harvey Dent. However, it is her key role in “The Long Halloween” storyline that is what she’s most famous for.
That mini-series spans a year and deals with a serial killer called Holiday who systematically murders prominent gangsters among the city’s two powerful crime families – the Falcone and the Maronis. By the end, the mob’s rule of Gotham has been decimated, and the ‘costumed freaks’ take over the city’s underworld.
The film can’t be a direct adaptation of that, as events in both the first film and “The Penguin” have negated that possibility. If the report is true, then this casting would strongly suggest that Harvey Dent will be a significant character in this.
Filming on “The Batman: Part II” is slated to begin in May in the UK at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden and Liverpool in England as well as in Glasgow.
Robert Pattinson, Jeffrey Wright, Andy Serkis, and Colin Farrell reprise their respective roles as Batman, Jim Gordon, Alfred Pennyworth, and the Penguin.
