While the first trailer for Marvel Studios’ “Avengers: Doomsday” will be hitting cinemas with “Avatar: Fire and Ash” next Friday, don’t expect it online earlier than that.
Multiple insiders and outlets are reporting that in order to increase interest in the James Cameron-directed third “Avatar” film, Disney will hold off on releasing the trailer online until after it is in cinemas, most likely the Monday or Tuesday of the following week (Dec 22nd or 23rd).
Scooper Cryptic4KQual says: “If you’re going to an Advanced Screening of Avatar, I’m happy for you. You’re among the first to see it publicly. We can only hope for an online release Christmas week.”
Alternatively (though unlikely), Disney may not release the 85-second ‘Year Before’ teaser online at all – much like with Chris Nolan’s “The Odyssey” ‘year before’ teaser that still only exists online in bootleg form.
Talk stirred yesterday that Disney pulled a planned trailer release for today because it doesn’t want to be overshadowed by “Supergirl”. It was subsequently revealed that it wasn’t for ‘Avengers’ and may possibly have been a full trailer for “The Mandalorian and Grogu”.
“Avatar: Fire and Ash” hits cinemas late next week.
