Blanchart Sought To Direct “Final Destination 7”

New Line Cinema

Belgian filmmaker Michiel Blanchart (“Night Call,” “You’re Dead, Helene”) is the lead choice to direct the. follow-up to “Final Destination: Bloodlines” at New Line Cinema.

Blanchart, who will be making his English-language debut with the feature, rose to the top of the list of candidates this week after an intense search. No formal offer has been handed out yet.

‘Bloodlines’ opened back in May to the top of the box-office globally, and achieved the best opening weekend in the six-film series.

Since then it has become the highest-grossing entry in the overall franchise to date with $314.6 million worldwide.

Zach Lipovsky and Adam Stein directed that film but opted not to return this time. ‘Bloodlines’ co-writer Lori Evans Taylor is returning to pen the new script.

Franchise steward Craig Perry and franchise veteran Sheila Hanahan Taylor are back producing, as are Jon Watts, Dianne McGunigle and Toby Emmerich. The films to date have earned over $1 billion worldwide.
