TRON: Ares
Nine Inch Nails have premiered the entire 24-track soundtrack for “TRON: Ares” via Interscope Records today. The project marks the first time Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross have officially composed a film score under the Nine Inch Nails name, and the band’s first new original music in five years. The pair have been the go to composers for both Luca Guadagnino and David Fincher in recent years and this release comes ahead of the film opening on October 10th. [Source: Spotify]
Alien: Romulus 2
Argentine filmmaker Demián Rugna (“When Evil Lurks”) was reportedly namedropped during a recent HorrorBound Weekend panel involving “Alien: Romulus” director Fede Álvarez which has led to speculation he’s the one that will step in and helm the ‘Romulus’ sequel. “Alien” podcast Perfect Organism has also recently cited a source confirming Rugna as director. Transformers
Tyrese Gibson has teased that he may be returning for the new “Transformers” movie with Michael Bay, saying: “I was just on the phone with Michael Bay last week… so that’s all I can tell you”. BoulderLight Pictures and producers JD Lifshitz and Raphael Margules, who currently have a deal with Warner Bros’ New Line that ends in January, are heading to Paramount and will steer a new genre label at the studio, serving as principals overseeing the development, production and release of high-concept genre films. The pair have produced such recent films as “Barbarian,” “Weapons,” “Companion,” “Friendship” and “Woman of the Hour”. [Source: THR]
Here Be Monsters
Paramount Pictures has acquired the sea-set intense survival thriller “Here Be Monsters” in a competitive auction. Hailing from “TRON: Ares,” “Kon-Tiki” and “The Young Woman and the Sea” director Joachim Rønning.
Plot specifics are under wraps beyond it being called reminiscent of “Alien” and “The Thing”. Ridley Scott, Michael Pruss and Rebecca Feuer will produce. Rønning penned the script with his brother Andreas Rønning. Noah Harpster and Micah Fitzerman-Blue did revisions. [Source: Deadline]
