Henry Cavill Injury Delays “Highlander” Shoot

Netflix

An injury sustained by “The Witcher” and “Man of Steel” actor Henry Cavill ahead of filming on the reboot of “Highlander” has delayed that production by months.

The 42-year-old Cavill has been training for many months for the long-gestating project, teasing that his sword work for the film goes far beyond anything he’s done to date.

Specifics of the injury are unclear, but production was all lined up to get underway in a few weeks. Now, with the delay, the shoot has been pushed to early next year – resulting in a delay of around four months.

That suggests a potentially serious injury. Chad Stahelski is directing the project and has been developing it for nearly a decade. Initially at Lionsgate, the project has now moved to Amazon MGM Studios.

Russell Crowe, Dave Bautista, Marisa Abela, Karen Gillan, Djimon Hounsou and Max Zhang co-star in the film which Michael Finch (“John Wick: Chapter 4”) has penned.

Cavill has sustained injuries before including a severe hamstring tear during filming of “The Witcher” second season and a knee injury in 2017.
