Dastmalchian Is M. Bison In “Street Fighter”

“Dune,” “The Suicide Squad” and “Late Night with the Devil” actor David Dastmalchian will play the role of lead villain M. Bison in the new film adaptation of the “Street Fighter” game franchise.

Deadline broke the news, calling it the biggest role to date for the character actor who has been popping up on screens for nearly 20 years.

Previously it was rumored “Justified” and “The White Lotus” star Walton Goggins was up for the M. Bison role but that no longer appears to be the case.

In the lore, Bison is the head of the Shadaloo criminal organisation and has plans for world domination. Raul Julia previously played the character in the 1994 film adaptation, one of his last roles before dying.

Dastmalchian joins an increasingly wild cast that includes Jason Momoa as the green-skinned/orange-haired Brazillian beast Blanka, Callina Liang as Interpol officer Chun-Li, Roman Reigns as Akuma, Andrew Koji as martial artist Ryu, Noah Centineo as Ryu’s friend Ken, country singer Orville Peck as clawed bullfighter Vega, Curtis ’50 Cent’ Jackson as disgraced boxer Balrog, and Andrew Schulz as Dan Hibiki.

A new rumor has also emerged at Nexus Point News indicating wrestler Cody Rhodes is up for the role of Guile, but that hasn’t been confirmed yet.

Kitao Sakurai, who directed multiple episodes of “The Eric Andre Show,” is directing the film after “Talk to Me” and “Bring Her Back” helmers Danny Philippou and Michael Philippou exited the project.

Capcom is reportedly heavily involved in the new take on a franchise which opens next year. Dastmalchian was recently seen in “The Life of Chuck” film and Apple series “Murderbot”. He’ll soon be seen in the “Dexter: Resurrection” series and the second season of Netflix’s live-action “One Piece”.
