Bernthal’s Punisher Joins New “Spider-Man”

Marvel

Jon Bernthal is set to re-team for a third time with actor Tom Holland, this time reprising his famed Frank Castle/The Punisher role in “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” for Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios.

Nothing is really known about the plot of the new film, aside from speculation tied to the title – which is a famous storyline in the comics and relates to the set up seen at the ending of “Spider-Man: No Way Home” in which the world has forgotten Peter Parker.

So far, the only confirmed stars are Holland, Bernthal, Sadie Sink, Liza Colón-Zayas and returnees Zendaya and Jacob Batalon, though the latter two are expected to only have minor roles this time out.

Bernthal first played The Punisher in Marvel’s “Daredevil” series on Netflix before getting two seasons of his own show, and then returning to the role for the first season of “Daredevil: Born Again”.

The actor has recently slipped back into the role for that show’s second season, and is slated to get his own Disney+ special shortly.

Holland and Bernthal first teamed on 2017 period drama “Pilgrimage” and then again recently on “The Odyssey”.

Destin Daniel Cretton is directing the feature which will shoot in England this summer and has a July 31st 2026 release date.
