“The Boys” creator Eric Kripke indicates his original plan of a five-season run of “The Boys” may be out the window.
Back in 2020, the showrunner mentioned he had a five-season plan for the series. However the massive success of the main show, and of the new spinoff “Gen V,” has potentially thrown that roadmap into disarray.
This week, speaking with Inverse about the currently airing first season of “Gen V” and that show’s renewal, he mentions that you shouldn’t talk to him about future show plans as he has a terrible track record of predicting it:
“I have since realized that literally no one in history is worse at predicting the amount of seasons of a show, like literally. I have learned my lesson and I’ve stopped predicting how many seasons these shows go. You will find out in hindsight.”
The quote there ties to his other most famous creation “Supernatural” which he also served as showrunner on the first five seasons of before exiting, expecting it wouldn’t go much longer. The show ended up running for fifteen seasons.
So the plan now appears to be continue with the series as long as it’s creatively justified. Whether that means five seasons total or more, they’ll cross that bridge when they come to it.
Amazon has already filmed a fourth season of “The Boys” which is expected to debut sometime next year, the show has been a major critical and ratings success for the streamer.
