British actor John Boyega, who has been quite vocal about his journey with the “Star Wars” franchise, both good and bad, has spoken about the possibility of returning to that universe.
Back in 2020, the “Pacific Rim: Uprising” and “The Woman King” star famously discussed his frustrations with the way his character, effectively a co-lead in “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” was subsequently sidelined in the next two films as attention shifted to Daisy Ridley and Adam Driver’s characters.
Earlier this year, he gave comments saying he’d come to terms with his work on the film, telling a British outlet the “fun times, good times, ugly times, bad times, it makes you who you are”.
Cut to a recent pre-strike interview he gave to Tech Radar to promote Netflix’s new film “They Cloned Tyrone” where he says he hasn’t closed the door on a return to the Finn role:
“That [those comments] was a few years ago, so they were the subject of that particular project. But I’m open to all characters and scripts that are enjoyable, have a great cast attached, and a terrific director. So yeah, I’m open to all opportunities.”
The comments come as we know his co-star Daisy Ridley is returning as Rey for a “New Jedi Order” film set fifteen years after “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker” and aims to shoot in the UK sometime next year ahead of a December 2025 release.
This has led to obvious fan hopes that we could see a reunion of the main trio from the sequel trilogy – Ridley’s Rey, Boyega’s Finn and Oscar Isaac’s Poe Dameron – in some form.
