“Flash,” “Strange,” “Challengers” Set Dates

Several projects have announced some key date news today.

First up, new dates for the PVOD releases of two recent major studio films have been confirmed by When to Stream with “The Flash” movie coming July 18th, the live-action “The Little Mermaid” on July 25th. Both will have the titles available on services like Apple iTunes, Amazon and Google.

Next up, Apple TV+ has set an August 9th premiere date for its adaptation of Nathan W. Pyle’s graphic novel “Strange Planet”. Ten episodes in total, with each to be released weekly on Wednesdays until the season finale on September 27th.

Emmy Award winner Dan Harmon and Pyle co-create and executive produce. The voice cast includes Danny Pudi, Lori Tan Chinn, Hannah Einbinder, Tunde Adebimpe and Demi Adejuyigbe.

Finally, Luca Guadagnino’s sexy sports dramedy “Challengers,” starring Zendaya as a former tennis prodigy turned coach entangled in a love triangle with two pro tennis players (Josh O’Connor, Mike Faist), will open the Venice Film Festival.

The film will world premiere out of competition on August 30th in the Venice Lido’s Palazzo del Cinema – two weeks ahead of its U.S. release on September 15th.

The project will be distributed in the U.S. by MGM/Amazon Studios and Warner Bros. Pictures internationally.
