NBC Cancels “Young Rock,” “Grand Crew”

NBC

NBC has opted to cancel the two-season comedy “Grand Crew” and three-season series “Young Rock” – neither of which will be renewed for the Fall.

Both were ‘on the bubble’ series for the network. The decision means the fate of only one series remains a mystery – the comedy “American Auto”.

“Grand Crew” starred Nicole Byer and Echo Kellum and was created by Phil Augusta Jackson, who executive produced with Dan Goor. The story follows a group of young Black professionals in LA navigating life and love.

“Young Rock” was based on the life of Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and starred Adrian Groulx, Bradley Constant and Uli Latukefu as younger versions of the man himself. If followed him at three different points in life – as a kid, as a rebellious teen and as a rising football star.

“St. Denis Medical” is said to be akin to ABC’s “Abbott Elementary” and follows an understaffed Oregon hospital where the doctors and nurses try their best to treat patients whilst trying to stay sane. Wendi McClendon-Covey stars.

NBC also has the Jon Cryer-led “Extended Family,” and the dramas “Found” and “The Irrational” on the way for next season.
