Seventh “Mission: Impossible” Is Finally Finished

Paramount Pictures

Just over three years after it began production, Christopher McQuarrie’s “Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One” is finally officially complete.

The first half of the two-part finale began production in February 2020 but was quickly sidelined by COVID-19 restrictions. Filming then started again in September before further stoppages followed, which saw the production shooting on-and-off again through until September 2021, when it wrapped.

Filming then began on “Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part Two” in March last year and continued on into earlier this year. In addition, McQuarrie himself seemed to reveal that some additional photography took place on ‘Part One’ with that completed in late April this year.

Whatever additions were made have obviously been incorporated because post-production, including editing, VFX, music, color grading and more, is done with the finished film having been delivered to the studio.

The action blockbuster sees star Tom Cruise and McQuarrie re-team for their third ‘Mission’ together following their success with the fifth film ‘Rogue Nation’ and sixth film ‘Fallout’. Costing around $290 million to make, the film also stars Hayley Atwell, Rebecca Ferguson, Simon Pegg, Ving Rhames, Vanessa Kirby, Henry Czerny, Shea Whigham, Pom Klementieff and Esai Morales.

“Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One” is set to arrive in theaters worldwide on or around July 14th.
