Shia LaBeouf is reportedly writing a script for a feature set in the infamous Nazi concentration camp of Auschwitz.
Filmmaker Abel Ferrara revealed the project during a recent interview about “Padre Pio,” Ferrara’s new film, which stars LaBeouf in a key role alongside actors Marco Leonardi, Salvatore Ruocco, Luca Lionello and Asia Argento.
“Padre Pio” marks LaBeouf’s first major role since claims of sexual battery, assault, and numerous other allegations were made against the actor by artist and former significant other FKA Twigs.
Speaking to The Film Stage, Ferrara says the pair of them were collaborating on the work with LaBeouf writing the project. Asked about LaBeouf, Ferrara said the actor was doing well and had just done Francis Ford Coppola’s “Megalopolis”. He then said:
“Padre Pio was 15 days or 20 days and he was in for four, so he wasn’t there a long time. But anyway, it was good, and he’s working. And we’re working on a film together. He’s writing something about Auschwitz that we’re thinking about doing.”
LaBeouf’s screenwriting debut was with the semi-autobiographical film “Honey Boy”. “Padre Pio” is set to open in U.S. cinemas on Friday.
