“The Boys,” “Scream,” and “Star Trek: Lower Decks” star Jack Quaid has signed on to lead the sci-fi thriller “Companion” which hails from some of the team behind last year’s horror hit “Barbarian”.

Drew Hancock wrote the original script and is making his directorial debut with the feature – story details are under wraps. Zach Cregger, Roy Lee, Raphael Margules and J.D. Lifshitz produce. [Source: THR]

Amateur
Holt McCallany and Julianne Nicholson will join Rami Malek, Rachel Brosnahan, Caitríona Balfe, Laurence Fishburne and Adrian Martinez in the CIA thriller “Amateur” at 20th Century Studios. James Hawes (“Slow Horses”) directs.

Based on a novel by Robert Littell, Malek plays a CIA cryptographer who, after his wife is tragically killed in a London terrorist attack, demands his bosses go after them. He ends up blackmailing the agency into training him and letting him go after them himself. [Source: Deadline]

Butterfly
Amazon Prime has ordered the six-episode spy thriller “Butterfly,” based on the 2015 graphic novel, to series with Daniel Dae Kim set to star and executive produce. Ken Woodruff and Steph Cha co-created the series, and Woodruff will serve as showrunner.

Kim plays an enigmatic former US spy living in South Korea whose life is blown to pieces by the consequences of an impossible past decision. He finds himself pursued by Rebecca, a deadly, sociopathic young agent assigned to kill him. [Source: Variety]

Land Man
Michelle Randolph (“1923”), Jacob Lofland (“Maze Runner”) and Ali Larter (“Final Destination”) will join Billy Bob Thornton in the Taylor Sheridan series “Land Man” on the Paramount+ service.

Set in the proverbial boomtowns of West Texas, the project is a modern-day tale of fortune-seeking in the world of oil rigs as roughnecks and wildcat billionaires fuel a boom so big, it’s reshaping our climate and geopolitics. [Source: Variety]
