Apple TV+ has announced that the forthcoming ten-episode third season of its Rose Byrne-led period dark comedy “Physical” will be the show’s last.
The series follows Sheila Rubin (Byrne), a quietly tortured, seemingly dutiful housewife supporting her smart but controversial husband’s bid for state assembly.
As she battles her own personal demons, she comes to find a release through the world of aerobics and successfully launches her first fitness video – only to encounter some new and bigger obstacles on her path. She also has to outrun some fierce new competitors on the road to building a fitness empire.
The final season will see Zooey Deschanel joining the cast in the role of a network sitcom star named Kelli who wants to take a shot at the fitness industry.
Byrne says in a statement: “With this final season, Sheila’s three-act saga of rebellion, recovery, and redemption comes to the satisfying conclusion that she and her fans so richly deserve. We feel so proud to share this last chapter with everyone.”
Byrne will next be seen in the Apple Original comedy series “Platonic” alongside her “Neighbors” co-star Seth Rogen”. That show premieres May 24th, whilst the final season of “Physical” will air on Wednesday, August 2nd.
