Oscar-winner Al Pacino (“The Irishman”), Oscar-nominee Viggo Mortensen (“Green Book”), Oscar-nominee John Travolta (“Pulp Fiction”), Shia LaBeouf (“Honey Boy”), Rebecca Pidgeon (“Bird Box”) and singer/actress Courtney Love (“The People vs. Larry Flynt”) are all set to star in the thriller “Assassination”.
Pulitzer Prize-winner and Oscar-nominee David Mamet (“Wag the Dog,” “Heist,” “Spartan”) is set to direct and co-write the film along with Nicholas Celozzi.
Set in 1963 and during a crucial justice hearing against organized crime, the head of the Chicago mob orders the assassination of President John F. Kennedy Jr., which creates a deadly conspiracy while altering the fate of a nation.
Corey Large (“It Follows”) produces and says in a statement:
“It’s an honor to be working with all of these legends. With the undeniable talent of David Mamet at the helm and our stellar cast led by Viggo Mortensen, Al Pacino, Shia LaBeouf and John Travolta, the stars have truly aligned. Assassination is a riveting and gripping thriller set in a pivotal period in American history, brilliantly crafted by Mamet – it’s an absolutely fantastic project!”
Robert Elswitt (“Inherent Vice,” “There Will Be Blood”) will serve as the film’s cinematographer and production is scheduled to start in September in Vancouver.
Arclight Films’ current slate includes “Arthur’s Whisky,” Sundance title “Fairyland,” and John Curran’s psychological thriller “Mercy Road”.
