Final Trailer: Indiana Jones & the Dial of Destiny

Lucasfilm

Following the teaser at the end of last year and a Superbowl spot two months ago, Disney used its Lucasfilm Showcase event this morning in the UK to unveil the full-length final trailer and poster for “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny”. Those in attendance were also lucky enough to see a full six-minute chase sequence from the movie.

Set in 1969 New York, the film will somehow tie in with Operation Paperclip (Nazi scientists given amnesty by the U.S. Government in exchange for their scientific knowledge) and the space race against the Soviet Union.

American archaeologist and adventurer Indiana Jones is now mostly retired and wrestles with fitting into a world that seems to have outgrown him. Meanwhile, Jürgen Voller (Mads Mikkelsen) – a NASA member and ex-Nazi involved with the moon-landing program, wishes to make the world into a better place as he sees fit.

As the tentacles of an all-too-familiar evil return in the form of the old rival, Indy must don his hat and pick up his whip once more to make sure an ancient and powerful artifact doesn’t fall into the wrong hands.

Phoebe Waller-Bridge co-stars as Indiana Jones’ goddaughter, Helena, who accompanies him on his journey this time. Also starring are Antonio Banderas as an old friend of Indy’s, John Rhys-Davies reprising his role of Sallah, Boyd Holbrook as some kind of villain, along with Shaunette Renee Wilson, Thomas Kretschmann, and Toby Jones.

The new film is being directed by James Mangold and is confirmed to be 80-year-old Harrison Ford’s final outing as the famed archaeology professor and adventurer.

“Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny” is slated to hit cinemas on June 30th 2023.
