Druckmann Teases “The Last of Us” Season 2

Abby Art: Naughty Dog, Series Art: HBO

HBO’s “The Last of Us” TV series adaptation wrapped its run last weekend which means no new episode tonight for the first time in two months.

To help fans get through that absence, the game’s director and show’s co-creator Neil Druckmann shared an illustration on his official Twitter assuring fans about the second season.

The image, effectively the first promotional poster for the second season, appears to tease the live-action debut of the most significant new character for the franchise who makes their debut in “The Last of Us Part II” game – Abby Anderson.

Druckmann says in his posting: “No [The Last of Us] on HBO tonight. But Season 2 is already on its way! Endure and survive!” He does not confirm if the arm belongs to Abby, a character who has a key link to a specific event in the first season finale and is a part of the Washington Liberation Front.

Laura Bailey, who played the character in the game, had a small cameo in the show’s first season finale in an entirely different role – as one of the nurses.

The posting comes in the wake of that finale which is seeing the same reaction to its final moments from viewers that gamers had ten years ago to the same story and character decisions.

It’s hoped the second season will begin production before year’s end with an airing likely not until early 2025. All episodes of “The Last of Us” are available to stream on HBO Max now.
