Marvel is reportedly trying to find the identity of a Reddit user(s) who allegedly released a 63-page transcript of dialogue from “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” online a full month before the film’s theatrical premiere.

Ars Technica and Gizmodo report that a request was filed on Friday on behalf of Marvel by a finance affiliate in a California federal district court. It reportedly asks for the issue of subpoenas to compel Reddit to identify the person or group responsible for postings in a particular subreddit in late January.

It has been theorised the leaked document, a link to which was allegedly posted on the subreddit, was text intended for use in subtitles in international markets. Around the same time the alleged document appeared, the entire plot of the movie also apparently leaked online.

A rep for Reddit tells Variety: “Reddit is committed to protecting our users’ privacy. We have rigorous processes in place to assess legal requests and object when appropriate.” Marvel reportedly previously issued DMCA takedown requests to remove the infringing material which were complied with.

The news comes as “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” has been one of the least well-reviewed Marvel Studios films to date. In its fourth weekend of release, the film now stands at $198 million domestic – outpacing the original ($180 million) but behind the sequel ($216 million).
