Sony Pictures Animation has released a new photo from the upcoming “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” animated sequel.

The shot showcases Miguel O’Hara/Spider-Man 2099, voiced by Oscar Isaac, as he races over a bridge and reaches for something. In the film O’Hara is the leader of the Spider-Force — a group of Spider-People who aim to protect the multiverse.

After reuniting with Gwen Stacy, Brooklyn’s full-time, friendly neighborhood Spider-Man is catapulted across the Multiverse where he encounters the Spider-People team.

When the heroes clash on how to handle a new threat, Miles finds himself pitted against the other Spiders and must redefine what it means to be a hero so he can save the people he loves most.

Voice actors include Shameik Moore, Hailee Steinfeld, Jake Johnson, Issa Rae, Daniel Kaluuya, Jason Schwartzman, Brian Tyree Henry, Luna Lauren Velez, Greta Lee, Rachel Dratch, Jorma Taccone and Shea Whigham.

The film is directed by Joaquim Dos Santos, Kemp Powers, and Justin K. Thompson and is penned by David Callaham, Phil Lord and Chris Miller with the latter two producing along with Amy Pascal, Avi Arad, and Christina Steinberg with Alonzo Ruvalcaba.

Like its predecessor, the studio is pushing boundaries and filmmaking to the limit with things they are attempting, Miller saying in an earlier interview the new film is “breaking the pipelines all over again” and is making some people nervous with what they’re trying to achieve.

“Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse””is scheduled to hit cinemas on June 2nd, and arrives ahead of “Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse” on March 29th 2024.
