Universal Pictures

Easy’s Waltz
Vince Vaughn, Michelle Monaghan, Al Pacino and Simon Rex have been announced as the main cast members of indie drama “Easy’s Waltz”. The story follows a down-on-his-luck comedian-crooner navigating modern Las Vegas with old-school Vegas personalities.

The project hails from “True Detective” creator Nic Pizzolatto who penned the project and will make his feature film directing debut. Margot Hand is producing. Vaughn and Monaghan recently finished filming “Ted Lasso” creator Bill Lawrence’s new drama series “Bad Monkey”. [Source: Deadline]

The Last Frontier
Apple has handed out a series order for the drama “The Last Frontier” starring Jason Clarke in the lead role. The ten-episode series hails from “The Blacklist” duo Jon Bokenkamp and Richard D’Ovidio.

Clarke will star as Frank Remnick, the lone Marshal in the remote wilderness of Alaska. When a prison transport plane crashes in the area, setting free dozens of violent inmates, he begins to suspect the crash wasn’t an accident – rather the first step of a scheme with global political implications. Gnomes
Sony Pictures and 21 Laps have set “Ant-Man and the Wasp” scribes Andrew Barrer & Gabriel Ferrari to pen the feature adaptation of the breakout horror short film “Gnomes”. Richard Raaphorst and Ruwan Heggelman created the original short with Heggelman to direct this feature adaptation.

The story follows a girl who stumbles into the territory of a killer gnome tribe while out on her daily run, finding herself in grave danger after being lured in by its mysterious glowing mushrooms. Shawn Levy, Dan Cohen and Dan Levine of “Stranger Things” fame will produce. [Source: Deadline]

The Exorcist
Jennifer Nettles (“The Righteous Gemstones”) has joined the cast of the first film in the trilogy revival of 1973’s “The Exorcist”. Like with the recent “Halloween” revival, this will serve as a many years later follow-up to the original only.

The new film stars Leslie Odom Jr., Ann Dowd, Lidya Jewett and Ellen Burstyn reprising her role as Chris MacNeil from the 1973 original. Nettles has landed a “primary role” but specifics are under wraps. Blumhouse and Morgan Creek will release the film October 12th this year. [Source: Variety]
