The Sterling Affairs
Acting veterans Harriet Samson Harris (“Werewolf by Night”) and Corbin Bernsen (“City On a Hill”) will join Ed O’Neill, Laurence Fishburne and Jacki Weaver in the six-episode FX series “The Sterling Affairs” which hails from Gina Welch (“Feud”).
Yvonna Pearson, Jock McKissic, Darryl Wesley, Rich Sommer and Clifton Davis will also star in the series about the downfall of Los Angeles Clippers’ owner Donald Sterling (O’Neill) amid the team’s drive to win a championship under coach Doc Rivers (Fishburne). [Source: Deadline]
Lois & Varga
“The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” star Rachel Brosnahan is attached to lead the limited series “Lois & Varga” at Amazon. Miriam Battye (“Dead Ringers”) is adapting the short story by Lisa Taddeo, with Halina Reijn (“Bodies Bodies Bodies”) directing the pilot.
The story follows a newly-married couple that moves to a small and vaunted island after inheriting a heavenly parcel of oceanfront property. But once they arrive, they meet Varga, the island’s only stripper and yoga teacher, who begins to sinisterly unravel their lives. [Source: Variety]
#1 Happy Family USA
Ramy Youssef’s upcoming Amazon animated series has scored the title “#1 Happy Family USA” and has set its main cast, which includes Youssef himself along with Alia Shawkat, Salma Hindy, Randa Jarrar, Mandy Moore, Chris Redd, Akaash Singh and Whitmer Thomas.
The series follows the experiences of a Muslim-American family navigating the early 2000s – a time of war and a rapidly expanding boy-band industrial complex. Two seasons of the series were ordered in March last year with Youssef, Pam Brady, Josh Rabinowitz and Mona Chalabi executive producing for A24 and Amazon Studios. [Source: Variety]
Shoresy
Hulu has announced that “Shoresy,” its spin-off of the Canadian “Letterkenny,” will return for a six-episode second season later this year. production on the new run will kick off this Spring.
The six-episode first season aired in May last year and followed foul-mouthed fan favorite Shoresy (Jared Keeso) who moved to Northern Ontario to help the struggling ice hockey team the Sudbury Blueberry Bulldogs.
South Park
The twenty-sixth season of “South Park” will be debuting soon according to a just-released teaser trailer posted on the official South Park Twitter account – albeit with footage from an old ninth-season episode.
The famed adult animated comedy series will return next month, but it’s not clear how many episodes will air as part of the new run. Last year saw a short six-episode Season 25 screening along with the two-part “The Streaming Wars” specials.
