“Easy Rider” Modern Reimagining In Works

Columbia Pictures

A reimagining of the 1969 counterculture classic “Easy Rider” is reportedly in early development among a group of producers and stakeholders who currently own the screen rights.

Dennis Hopper, Peter Fonda and Terry Southern penned the drug-fuelled motorcycle epic that Hopper directed and starred himself, Fonda and a young Jack Nicholson.

The film is considered a classic as it showcased the shifting sociopolitical landscape in America. It scored two Oscar nominations and made $60 million off a reported $400,000 budget.

Maurice Fadida’s Kodiak Pictures, Defiant Studios’ Eric B. Fleischman, and the Jean Boulle Group are behind the new take and currently seeking writers/directors to update the project for modern times but keep the same edge.
