The film rights to the video game series “Tomb Raider” have now returned to producer Graham King and his GK Films following a nine-year stint at MGM.

As a result, the property has been open for studios and streamers to bid and acquire it for the last few days, with things quickly escalating into a bidding war.

As a result of the shift of ownership, the planned Misha Green-directed sequel to the 2018 reboot starring Alicia Vikander is now dead with the role expected to be recast.

Angelina Jolie previously starred in two films back in 2001 and 2003 based on the character and released by Paramount Pictures.
