Weird: The Al Yankovic Story
Roku has announced a November 4th release date on The Roku Channel for “Weird: The Al Yankovic Story,” the colorful biopic which stars Daniel Radcliffe as the pop satirist and music icon.
Eric Appel pens and directs the film, which also stars Evan Rachel Wood as Madonna, Rainn Wilson as Dr. Demento, Quinta Brunson as Oprah Winfrey, James Preston Rogers as Hulk Hogan, and Lechristopher Williams as Coolio. [Source: Twitter]
Stray
Paramount Pictures has snagged the rights to “John Wick” creator Derek Kolstad’s new action feature “Stray” which he’s penning. Actor/acrobat/martial artist and future He-Man star Kyle Allen (“West Side Story,” “American Horror Story: Apocalypse”) will star, but no director is yet attached. Akiva Goldsman and Greg Lessans will produce. [Source: Variety]
Fearless
Kingdom Story Company banner has acquired screen rights to Eric Blehm’s 2012 book “Fearless” about Adam Brown, a Navy soldier who overcame addiction and jail time to become a member of the SEAL Team 6 unit. Jason Hall (“American Sniper”) will adapt the screenplay, and Andrew Erwin will direct. [Source: THR]
The Whale
A24 has released a first-look photo of Brendan Fraser under a bunch of heavy make-up and prosthetics in Darren Aronofsky’s “The Whale”, which will premiere in September in Venice.
Fraser plays a 600-pound (272 kg) middle-aged man who left his family to be with his gay lover, who later died, and he’s now a recluse who binge eats. He soon tries to reconnect with his estranged 17-year-old daughter (Sadie Sink), who resents him.

On The Come Up
Paramount+ has announced that Sanaa Lathan’s feature directorial debut “On the Come Up” will premiere exclusively on the service in North America on September 23rd before expanding into additional international territories later this year.
Jamila C. Gray plays a gifted 16-year-old rapper who attempts to take the battle rap scene by storm in order to lift up her family and do right by the legacy of her local hip hop legend father, whose career was cut short by gang violence. The Lost Boys
Warner Home Video has released a trailer for the upcoming 4K UHD disc release of Joel Schumacher’s iconic 1987 vampire feature “The Lost Boys”. Celebrating the film’s 35th anniversary, the disc release will arrive on September 20th.
