R I P Gregory Itzin
FOX

Veteran character actor Gregory Itzin has passed away at the age of 74. Itzin will probably best be remembered as the Nixon-like U.S. President Charles Logan in several seasons of FOX’s “24” co-starring with Jean Smart as his First Lady and delivering one of the long-running show’s most memorable characters.

Itzin earned two Emmy nominations for his work which spanned seasons 4, 5 & 10. An accomplished stage actor, the man has not stopped working since his first roles in 1979.

He’s had guest, recurring and regular roles in countless series including “Murder One,” “Mork and Mindy,” Murder She Wrote,” “Fame,” “Boston Legal,” “Charlie’s Angels,” “L.A. Law,” “The Nutt House,” “Friends,” “The Practice,” “Big Love,” “Covert Affairs,” “Mob City,” “The Pretender,” “Judging Amy,” “The OC,” “Matlock,” “Night Court,” “The Mentalist,” “NCIS” and as multiple characters across at least three “Star Trek” series.

He also popped up in several films including “Lincoln,” “The Ides of March,” “Law Abiding Citizen,” “Adaptation,” “Original Sin,” “The Fabulous Baker Boys,” and both the “Airplane” (aka. “Flying High”) movies.
