James Wan Adapts Stinger For Peacock
Warner Bros. Pictures

Peacock will team with filmmaker James Wan to adapt author Robert McCammon’s 2015 horror-thriller novel “Stinger” into a half-hour series with the help of “Yellowstone” writer Ian McCulloch.

The story of the book unfolds during a 24-hour period in Inferno, Texas, a town that’s a powder keg fueled by racial tension, gang violence and a collapsing economy.

An unidentified spacecraft crashes in the desert outside of town, followed soon after by a second craft bearing an interstellar hunter on a mission. Said hunter brings with him technology with an infinite capacity for destruction that threatens the existence of not just the town but the larger world beyond.

The TV series, currently going by the title of “Teacup,” will follow a disparate group of people on a Texas ranch who must come together in the face of a mysterious threat.

Universal Content Productions is backing the project which McCulloch, McCammon, Wan, E.L. Katz, Michael Clear and Rob Hackett will executive produce.
