Luke Matheny has signed on to serve as head writer and executive producer on HBO Max’s series remake of E.B. White’s iconic children’s book “Charlotte’s Web”.
The story follows a livestock pig named Wilbur and his friendship with a barn spider named Charlotte. When Wilbur’s life is in danger, Charlotte weaves messages in her web praising Wilbur in order to drum up public support and persuade the farmer to let him live.
Sesame Workshop is producing the project which will start shooting next month ahead of airing on HBO Max and Cartoon Network in 2024.
The story was adapted into the 1973 animated film and a 2006 live-action CG-animated hybrid feature. Matheny writes, directs and executive produces the series “Ghostwriter” on the Apple TV+ service.
