Australian filmmaker Baz Luhrmann has released the first trailer for “Elvis,” his new film starring Austin Butler as Elvis Presley and Tom Hanks as his manager Colonel Tom Parker.
The film covers the rock legend’s growth from dirt-poor singer to global icon, seen through the prism of his complex relationship over two decades with Colonel Tom
Central to that journey is one of the most significant and influential people in Elvis’s life, Priscilla Presley (Olivia DeJonge). Helen Thomson and Richard Roxburgh play Elvis’ parents, while Luke Bracey, David Wenham, Kelvin Harrison Jr., Xavier Samuel, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Dacre Montgomery, Leon Ford, Natasha Bassett and Yola co-star.
Presley ultimately died in 1977 at the age of 42. Luhrmann’s film is set for release on June 24th.
